About Fylgja
A companion spirit, in the old sense of the word.
The name
In Norse mythology, a fylgja /FILG-ya/ is a spirit that accompanies one person through their life. It watches and it follows. It belongs to that person and to nobody else, and it often takes the shape of an animal that says something about them.
That is the idea. One assistant, yours, that knows how you work and stays out of everything you have not asked it into. Not a tool you open, and not a crowd of helpers to manage.
Two pieces inside carry Norse names too. Huginn /HOO-gin/, thought, is the part that assembles what the assistant knows before it answers. Muninn /MOO-nin/, memory, is the part that decides what is worth keeping. They were Odin's two ravens.
Who it is for
People who run more than one thing at once. A company and a nonprofit. A job and a side business. A personal life that does not stop because the work day did. If your email lives in three places and you are the only person who holds all three in their head, this was built for you.
It assumes you have already tried an assistant that answers questions well and then does nothing. The problem was never the answers. It was that nothing could safely act inside your actual accounts, and that anything which could was impossible to audit or bound. Fylgja is an attempt at the other half: permissions per account, an approval before anything you have not cleared, a record of every action, and a hard cap on what a day can cost.
Who builds it
Fylgja is built by Loman Group, a small software company. It started as the thing we wanted for ourselves, and it is still the first place we test anything: our own inboxes, our own calendars, our own money on the model bill.
