What you'll need for self-hosted

A server

Any VPS with Docker support. We recommend Hetzner ($5-20/mo). Fylgja deploys with Kamal in one command.

An Anthropic API key

Fylgja uses Claude as its reasoning engine. You bring your own API key and pay Anthropic directly for usage.

Google OAuth credentials (optional)

For email and calendar integrations. Takes about 5 minutes to set up in Google Cloud Console.

Will Fylgja always be free?

The self-hosted version will always have a generous free tier. We plan to offer a managed cloud version with additional features and support at a monthly subscription price.

How much does the Anthropic API cost?

It depends on usage. Light use (a few conversations and tasks per day) typically costs $5-20/month. Heavy use with many agents and recurring tasks can be more. Fylgja tracks your API spend in the analytics dashboard.

Can I use a different AI model?

Fylgja currently uses Claude (Anthropic). Support for additional models is on the roadmap.
